SUBTERRENEAN ECO HOUSE  peak district

Description:

Surrounded by the Beautiful Peak District National Park, this new build Eco House is sited on a steeply sloping landscape.

The design works with the lay of the land, split over several floors which carve into the landscape.

From the highway, the building appears to be single storey and of a modest size. However, the South Elevation, which is not overlooked and benefits from uninterrupted views, cascades down the hillside with large expanses of floor to ceiling glazing - making the most of the views and solar gain.

The challenge has been to balance performance, function and aesthetics on what is regarded as a sensitive and sought after location.

The construction of this wonderful home was documented by the popular television series, Grand Designs. The episode was broadcast on 18th October 2017.
